DRIVING DIRECTIONS

From Denver, it is an easy drive through the mountains to Aspen, and there are stunning views along the way.
220 miles, 3 to 4 hours drive time

During the summer, when Independence Pass is open, travel on I-70 west to Highway 92. Take 92 south toward Leadville which will turn into Highway 24. Continue through Leadville to scenic Highway 82 west, which crosses the Continental Divide and drops into Aspen. Note: this dramatic, two-lane drive, which switchbacks through the Rocky Mountains, may not be advisable for folks who are afraid of heights.

Alternately, and during the winter months, you may exit I-70 at Glenwood Springs and head east on Highway 82. Aspen is 40 miles along Highway 82 from Glenwood.

From Eagle/Vail, take I-70 west to Glenwood Springs. Exit onto Highway 82 and head east 40 miles to Aspen.
70 Miles, approximately 1-1/2 hours drive time

From Grand Junction, take I-70 east to Glenwood Springs, exiting onto Highway 82. Aspen is 40 miles east on Highway 82 from Glenwood.
125 Miles, approximately 2 hours drive time
